Anti-gay activist DL Foster calls for Dan Savage’s arrest for starting the It Gets Better Project to curb LGBT youth suicide

It is a fact that LGBTQA kids have committed suicide since the start of the It Gets Better Project.  It is also a fact that they have not killed themselves because of the messages shared in those videos.  However what has driven them to pain so deep that they believe the only relief would come from death, is the teaching of homophobic ASSHOLES like DL Foster.  Foster promotes himself as an ex-gay Evangelist.   He’s been “cured” of his gayness by Jesus Christ.  Well good for him.  The strain of living a lie must be overwhelming.  The question is, which life exactly is the lie?  I have my own opinions on it, but they are of course just that.

If these religious nuts would spend less time fostering an environment ripe for hate, bigotry, and intolerance, their kids would stop taking this shit to school with them.  This kind of ignorance is learned, but can be unlearned.  The problem is that nothing is ever done about it until we have a dead kid.  So for every political and religious leader that would stand against anti-bullying laws because they don’t want to protect gay kids, I give a huge FUCK YOU!  Gay kids are not the only ones that are bullied to the point of homicide or suicide.  To stop measures that would protect all kids, and then call yourself a loving parent, is one of the most hypocritical stances of the homophobic.  

If a child is bullied for their weight, race, shyness, intelligence, sexual orientation, or any other reason, the ADULTS need to stand up and put an end to it.  But no, you don’t want to do that because your god forbid those preventative measures accidentally save the life of a gay kid in the process.  How about spending a little less time maligning those trying to save lives, and spend more time working on not being the force that ends lives. ~ Kim

Suicide claims another LGBT youth: Trevor Project intern Eric Borges

Eric James Borges, 19, of Visalia, Calif., succumbed to suicide Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Known as EricJames to his friends, he was an intern with The Trevor Project, and a Supplemental instructor at the College of the Sequoias.

Word began spreading late Wednesday among shocked and saddened friends and acquaintances. Not accepted by his birth family, EricJames was striking out on his own, trying to deal with his personal situation, but also wanting to help others.

Sadly, even involvement with the Trevor Project was not enough to help him navigate the turbulent waters of young adulthood.

A young film maker, EricJames posted this video on November 10, 2011, in which he also appears — the subtext of his video was described as “love is universal.”

EricJames also made a “It Gets Better” video, and posted it in December of last year.

I met EricJames recently, at the launching of My LGBT Plus, a youth oriented resource site, based in Fresno, California. A brief introduction left me with the impression of a fine young man, and I regret that I did not get to know him better.

Friends have begun planning a memorial, details will be updated here as they become available.

Just one of the many many reasons I hate Christianity. So we’re not supposed to give LGBT kids hope for a future? He’s right in saying it doesn’t get better. Oh their lives will get better, but unfortunately assholes like him will continue to inhabit the world and that won’t change. ~ kim
